We went to our first show on Monday with our 7 month old pup. It was a bit daunting at first working out where we had to go to collect catalogues, number cards etc, but we found everyone friendly and helpful. We also bumped into quite a few people from our ringcraft class, either there with their dogs or stewarding.
We arrived when judging in general was due to start, and so we did have quite a wait until our class, but it was fun watching the different rings and our pup loved meeting and greeting so many new dogs and people. Hopefully in future we can estimate better when to arrive, or will take our crate so little one can snooze.
We entered AVNSC terrier puppy. There were 5 in the class. She moved really well, despite the show being in an equestrian centre with lots of lovely smells on the ground! I was shocked and delighted that we were placed 1st! We then got another rosette for best terrier puppy AVNSC. In the terrier puppy group we were placed 2nd!
It was a really fun day out. Little one seemed to love every minute (she's a born show off). We have our next show on May 31st when there is an actual breed class so I need towork hard on her grooming between now and then as she was tidy on Monday but by no means perfect.

Well done! That's an excellent result for your first show.

WOW, well done!!

Brilliant. I am guessing by your name it is an airdale

Lovely dogs to watch moving.
I remember my first open show a woman told me to take my bitch home and put her away for 6 months to mature. I won Best AVNSC terrier and group 1 and beat the woman . It was so funny but a great day. I love open shows.

very impressive! well done!
you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here
Yes, she's an Airedale

Thanks all for your comments. I am completely new to showing so have lots to learn. Her breeder's have been breeding and showing for nearly 25 years, and are a big help. Going to ringcraft has been great too. Above anything I just want her to have fun, and so far at classes and on Monday she seems to.

When your starting out that is the nice thing about going to Ringcraft invariably when you go to local shows there will be a familiar face, and then you meet more people and at the next show there are even more folk you have got to know. Very social activity.
