Where do you get it done?
By Asa (**) [gb] Date 09.05.08 15:20 GMT
I had him scored at a vets in Rochdale

Your vet will do it for you. It takes about half an hour but the dog is usually at the vets for half a day. The time the results take to come through depends on when the panel meet to measure the plates, the norm being 2 to 3 weeks.

Sorry...obviously haven't explained myself properly.I have had him xrayed...am waiting on the results from the BVA....wondered how long this part was taking at the min

Nova: would not say the norm being just 2 to 3 weeks for the scores to come back (only if they happen to be sent in just before they sit), the panel doesn't meet as often as that. It's usually 6-8 weeks wait.

Had one xrayed 25th April, but dont know date of next panel

I haven't heard anything yet and had mine done on 9th April.

I know someone who had a dog done in February and got the results 7 weeks later.

When I had Lexi done in Feb 2005 from x-ray to scoring took 7 weeks, then obviously postage time back to me.

The procedure notes say from the time they get them to scoring should be roughly 3 weeks, has anyone had them back that fast?

Yes, the last twice which is why I said what I said but it seems others have a different experience.

I never have. The one done on 25th April lives with someone els: two with me were xrayed this Wednesday, so I bet they sat some time in between. :-(

I've had five done and all of them have taken between 6 - 8 weeks, wish it was only a 3 week wait on average.

next Thursday Barbara...

Edited to change my wording... when I say 5 week turnaround.. that included the postal system... from the time your vet sends plates to BVA and plates being returned..

Panel is sitting more often now than they were previously (a good sign, more breeders using the scheme)  recently they are down to a 5 week turnaround.. between Sept and Dec last year they were on a 7week turnaround... ..

Ooh I hope mine get into this batch then and I only have a bit over another week to wait.  I ahd mine x-rayed on the 9th April, so must have just missed a sitting.

Looks like I picked the worse possible day. I doubt they'll get there for Thursday. Pants!

So how often are they sitting now?

last time I spoke to them, they were on a weekly sitting.. Thurdays ...

All plates coming in are done in order, and obviously only so many can be done at a time.. so any waiting will go over onto the next sitting...

With more and more breeders taking up on the scoring scheme, it can take a couple of sittings before they reach 'that one' :-)

I have been informed that more than a few vets have been using the wrong forms also... only a couple of words have changed... but those WILL be sent back... adding to any delay..

I have had 4 dogs hip and elbow scored in the last 6 months... december was the longest wait (7 weeks).. my most recent was March... returned a day over 5 weeks...

Ooh as it has been a month now maybe I should give the Vet a ring in case the results are sitting with them.
