Did everyone else find this story shocking I didn't think there was much left to shock me but this has.
The poor child and her family.

I haven't seen the story Karen?

Stacey, a little girl of ten has died after being given five Ecstacy tablets!
Hi Karen, me too, shocked was an understatement I think. I wonder if they told her they were sweeties?

Oh my God- do they know who's given her them? Has she taken them knowing what they are (drugs) or not:(

I havnt heard anything further yet Stacey, only that they are " investigating the circumstances"

It's a sad possibility that the little girl has taken them knowing that they are ecstasy.
She probably got them outside the school gate or from a friend. : (
It's shocking, isn't it?
Julie
The girl swallowed the tablets at a friends brothers house. It's not known whether she took them thinking they were pain killers (she went upstairs complaining of feeling ill) or if she thought they were sweets.
Bearing in mind she took 5 of them it's unlikely she was given them deliberately or even took them deliberately.

Her friends brother was 20 years old, living with his girlfriend and their young baby. I think he must be a regular taker - but bear in mind that they have a young baby- if you ask me this was a tradegy waiting to happen:( How long would it have been before his own baby got hold of them since he was so careless and left them lying around:( My thoughts are sincerely with her parents to lose a child must be unimaginable let alone this way:(

But we don't know that they were left lying around - the girl could quite easily have gone through the drawers looking for something.
I really don't think it's appropriate to be casting judgement on a situation that we have no first hand knowledge of.

I understand what you're saying Fiona but bear in mind that it was her friend's brother's- I doubt she's been looking in any drawers? But all the same let's bear in mind that they are in fact a class A illegal drug- I'd have thought they should be well hidden?

Ok im going to be honest here in my teens and early twenties I used to take drugs as in ecstasy speed hash acid etc never touched herion.
The houses of friends always had drugs lying around none of us had kids but it could have been so easy for a child to pick them up.
I have grown up now and don't take drugs other than cigarettes and booze.
I think the child may well have thought them sweets and taken them but like Fiona says the full story is not known and maybe it never will be but still a sad and awful thing to happen.
Karen
I know nothing about this story at all - but i would just like to make one point, and that is ecstacy tastes absolutley terrible - really revolting, there is no way this child could have thought them sweets - or certainly not to take 5. I could understand trying on, or whatever, but ould spit them out the minute they were in your mouth.
Just a thought
Cleo,
Good point ecstacy does taste awful or used to in my day.

Is it possible someone thought they were chewable baby aspirin? Someone could have put them in an old container to hide what they really were. Just a thought.

Oh god, really?
That's awful!
Mind you, you'd hope that people would educate their kids not to pick up random tablets and take them. And you don't go leaving estasy tabs round the house when there's kids there, do you? Especially if they look like sweets.

Poor little girl.
It's also a sad fact that even when younger kids take drugs (not specific to this story) then they're really not aware of the consequences...
