I have a year old male pedigree Sharpei and was thinking of breeding him, any ideas?

yes!!!! forget it-----theres a wide enough gene pool out there of PROVEN males, --what makes you want to have him used, has he something that the rest havent already? is his breeder happy that youre thinking about using him?

Hi Turbo, yes.......dont!! Has he had any breed health checks done? Do you show him? If you do, has he done very well? Are you well up on line breeding? Do you keep in regular contact with his breeders, and value their advice? I f the answer to these questions reveal a line of "NO" answers then the only person likely to want to use him, is yourself. Sorry to sound so negative, but that is generally how the dog game works.
