Can anyone tell me if Irvin is a Welsh name? (Human not dog!)

No, it's an old English name meaning either lover of the sea or friend of the boar.

Oh well....so much for me trying to be a smart arse! Back to the drawing board then.

I've not yet looked on Leigh's link but Owen is Welsh? Someone I know who's Irish has a Welsh surname- 'Owen'- it's not on the list though?

Thanks Leigh, Sharron...its the otherway around though really! I have met a guy (looks coy & sheepish at this point!) called Irvin & as he has a hint of Welsh accent I wondered if it was a Welsh name! Thought I might be able to impresss him mightily if I knew its origins. (How sad!)
aww bless, good luck, he will luv ya anyway xxx
Aww Sam how can he not be impressed by you anyway:D You have loads of dogs and a bird that you are training yourself:D Don't try and impress him you will be impressive enough:)
Don't know much about dogs but I do a mean ego boost:D

Um Sam, It might be a good idea not to bring up the topic of your whip or dog training styles. Might scare the poor guy off

:D :D All the best though. I'm rooting for you :D
roflol, Sam, perhaphs you will be able to whip him into shape :D
Or it could intrigue him. My hubby now openly admits it was the idea of dating a woman wearing a gun on a leather belt which piqued his interest in me  :D

I suppose you lot will want updates on my love life now, as well as my bird training!
Now that you mention it;)
