hi all,
i was told that i should worm both puppys and mother at the same time, at two weeks, the question i have is, would mother not catch worms again when cleaning after puppys?
simba and nala, is those dogs who love one another................r.i.p baby no.3

Yes, which is why you worm the mother at the same time as worming the puppies. I usually worm at 3 weeks, 5 weeks and 7 weeks.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

I use the worming paste at three weeks and five weeks so much easier to give the pups. then I worm them again 7-8 weeks with a wormer from the vets.
Mom has tablets. I also worm my other dogs also when the pups are 7-8 weeks.

The policy in this house is all animals wormed on the same day, when I had cats as well as dogs they got wormed on the same day too

If pups in the house the adults get wormed at the same time - so 3 times before pups leave

I worm at 2,4,6,8 weeks and also worm all the other dogs in the house including mum with tablets for the adults and liquid for the pups
Loving you Mika, my boy 12/04/99 - 17/05/07 xx
Will never forget you my darling boy xx

yeah i was going to do every two weeks with pancur liquid, in syringe, and tablets for mum. would i worm mum every two weeks too or just the once whilst puppys are here?

I only worm my girl the once, as the tablets I use for the adults last longer then the puppy liquid wormers xx

Nor sure what you mean by this???
The puppy liquid wormer
I use can be used for adults too and the pack advises to worm adults 3-4 times a year! Of course you can worm your dog today and take him out Saturday and he can infect himself all over again

As
I understand it, the 3-4 months interval is to prevent the dog becoming overburdened with worms.
Is there a wormer which prevents the dog from having worms in the first place rather than just killing the worms off?

The Mother should have been on a strict worming regime before the birth too?

My pups coming up for 2 weeks so i will be doing them and mum, i am hoping to be able to find some do-do's to check and clean before mum gets to them (any excuse just to sit and watch pups!!!)
I will do mum & pups again in 2 weeks............................i know i need to carry on doing pups at 2 weekly intervals but will mum need this to after her 2nd dose

I do everyone again wqhen all the pups have gone. That is why I buy Panacur in bulk! :D
Barbara and the Grey Curly Tails.

maybe i did that wrong then because she was wormed the week before mating then in between the 9weeks,

I worm just before i mate the bitch & puppies 2 4 6 8 weeks i use Dorntal only worn adultes twice a year unless i need to with no problems.
I wormed my girl and all the other dogs the week before I mated her with Milbemax and will do her and all the other dogs again with Milbemax, when I do the puppies on Sunday (2 weeks) they will be done with Drontal though, puppies will be done at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks, mum and and all the others will be done again at 4 and 8 weeks. Not sure if that is right or not, but that is what I am doing.
