My new boy has just achieved his Junior Warrant and I would like to apply for a KC affix. I have been told they I might not be able to confirm the affix and transfer my boy over to my new affix in time as there is a 30 day period in which to do this? I'm a bit confused as I'd to transfer my girl over and she has a stud book number also which she won last August. Can anybody explain this to me please, have searched the KC website and not found anything to explain this.

Dam it! Finally found the info on a PRF, it states the following - "The name of a dog cannot be changed after 30 days have elapsed from the date of the first win which qualifies it entry in The Kennel Club stud book"

So I definatley won't be able to change my girl and I don't think there is enough time to have an affix approved to change my boy. Silly me for not getting my act together!

Well still get the affix and then later on when you are entering shows etc. you will have your affix with the JW award showing after it!

Or don't apply for your JW until your affix application has gone through ... ?

Have you telephoned the KC for confirmation. A friend of mine in Spinones won a ticket before she had her affix granted. She telephoned the KC and explained the situation. Now at this point I am not sure if she had already put her affix aplication in or not. But a phone call may be of some help in this situation.

We couldnt get the affix put on our first champion for exactly the reason you state.  How dissappointing for you.  Apply quickly and your lad might be able to get it on.  I dont think the KC are ogres and will try and help.  I stupidly forgot I hadnt removed my endorsement of my stud dog and they were brilliant with me about getting that done immediately so I could get the litter registered.

Thanks peeps, I'm going to call the KC this afternoon and see what they say. I hope I can atleast get the boy changed over and I can apply for an affix online so if I do that today maybe it might work. Wish me luck!

Spoke to the KC and they were really helpful, she said to apply for Affix today online and hopefully it will be processed in time. So cross fingers I can get the boy over. Lucky I have my list of names already to go.

A JW is an award you have to apply for, so get your affix, make the name change and then submit your JW claim.

Hey, I'll be there on Thursday so will see you then. You haven't seen my handsome new lad, I will introduce you to him. Had a super day a BC Champ show on Saturday with 2 x 1st and 2nd. He can be hard work to handle but we are making progress bless him, typical young beagle boy!

Karen says she is going as well so I can beagle all day to my hearts content.  Think it is going to be slightly more interesting than our judging anyway.

Ok, my affix has been confirmed and arrived in the post today my Kennel name is "Pakowhai". However my lad won the RDCC at 3 Counties last week am I going to have enough time to transfer him to it? Does the 30 days still apply? Still can get my head around this.
