Right, now we've sorted the pine furniture out, I have to think of windows.
I have patio doors at the end of my kitchen. Have always had vertical blinds, which got chewed to shreds by the puppies last year. The kitchen units come right up to the doors so there is no wall space to draw curtains onto. I really would like a change from the vertical blinds (even new unchewed ones), so would like full length curtains. Trouble is the door is in constant use from two labs, yellow and black so always assorted hairs on the floor and furniture. Also have a tendency to come in wet and muddy and shake just about inside the door. SO - my question is, any useful suggestions for the window. I'm far from houseproud, but would like something nice and has to be easy to clean.

How about the roller bamboo blinds.
Ikea do some lovely ones (cheap) They look lovely, easy to roll up and down and are very clean on those wet muddy days coz they will be rolled up!

I have this stuff in the kitchen- I don't know what it's 'proper' name is- is it a voile? Anyway- I saw it on TV just swagged around a lovely pole- I think you could get some of this and swag it that way you have window dressing that looks great- it also doesn't come low enough for the dogs to mucky:) I'll try and dig it out later- do you have an Argos cat?- if I can find it in there- I'll let you know the page no etc so you can have a look- the only way I can think of describing it is as 'flimsy see-throughy stuff'

How about having shutters on the outside? Then on those hot sunny days you can also leave the doors open for air and the shutters closed for coolness. Should also be fairly dog proof!

Or what about roman blinds? These are the ones that kind of fold upwards. So you could let them down at night and draw them up during the say.
Plus, You could attach the blind to the door frame rather than the wall and then the blind would move with the door, rather than forming a barrier.

This is going to sound old fasioned but they are on the way back and as long as you find nice ones,
You know the long beaded things you hang in the door. You can tie them back. I have seen quite trendy ones in Ikea and habitat they were woody looking.
First time I saw then I thought OH no but second time I thought the looked quite good.
If you had 2 seperate ones and only use one door you would only need to tie back one,
The roman blinds etc are nice but you would need a PVC one as the cotton ones do not clean.
How about dressing your doors at the top. You do not need a big curtain poll. a net poll works. Then get some voile off the roll £2-3 per metre drape it around. You window will look dressed and the dogs won't dirty it.
I am still thinking..

Is it voile then? I suggested that earlier I think but wasn't sure of the name of the stuff other than flimsy see through stuff- I have seen it swagged it looks beautiful and it's only cheap- I got it in the tab top version for a £5 on thoresby hall market- I have it like curtains (terracotta) that I don't close on top of a terracotta roller blind- a big Sunday market. I want it swagged next time in cream with cream vertical blinds:) I've also saw the beaded stuff you mean in like a bamboo effect- very modern:)
