Hi there,

For the last week or so my dog has had mucus forming in the corners of her eyes when I come down in the morning.  I wipe it off, then by the evening it is usually back.  It's not crusty, doesn't look like conjunctivitus, just very gradual weeping that takes many hours to appear.

It doesn't seem to bother her and her eyes are not bloodshot or anything.  I don't really want to take her to the vets as it doesn't seem that severe, but I wondered if there's any eye drops I could get over the counter for her that might help?

Thanks in advance!

My friends dog has just started with this and they think it's hayfever so he is taking antihistamines - I would take her to the vet as it could be a number of things

Hi alicey,

Eyes and ears are tricky things to home treat unless we can be sure that there are no foreign bodies, infections, etc going on.  Simple cleaning helps many things but if something more sinister is causing the problem then delaying treatment could make things much worse.

Better to have your vet confirm whether there is need for med attention and take it from there.

best wishes, Teri
Why bite when a simple growl will do ;-)

OK, thanks :-)
If you think it's necessary then we'll got to the vets, don't want to take any chances!
What would I do without this board? :-)
