
I thought he had died pining for me as we were always together and I cried for so long at his demise, I was always worried after that at the thought of leaving animals when we went on holiday, not too bad with the Collies as they were paired up and I knew they were ok together, but I've never since had single small animals, I have to buy everything in at least pairs, and my girl only goes to family where I know she has their dogs for company.
I walked some wonderful dogs and became quite well known in my village for doing so. My OH had a dog called Lassie, a cross between a Border and a Rough Collie. She lived until she was 19!
...................but kind of adopted some dogs belonging to a lady who lived a 100yrds away when I was 10 or so and spent the next 10 years helping her look after them (she had 10 Pointers) and going to shows with her etc!
......now I have 2 Dogs (will have more soon!) 2 cats and 2 rabbits......making up for a lost childhood LOL

she also had renal failure but unlike Smoke, who had it for years, Whisp's was acute and she went from healthy to gone in 2 weeks.
). Years later I progressed to the menagerie - rats, millipedes, mice and fish, and now I have the 4 dogs, 16 rats, something like 300 millipedes (could easily be more) and the fish.
She should have been called 'Shadow' because that is what she was to me and I will always remember her for her love and loyalty, somehow I didn't train her, she trained me which suited us both fine.
On my way from school Kelly would wait at the window and when he saw me he'd open the window and jump out to meet me (ground floor thankfully!)
