Hi everyone
I'm sorry is anyone is eating when reading this but I need some advise. Just recently when Amy does a 'poo' it starts off ok then becames quite soft and is covered with mucus. I'm sorry if this is putting people off as its not a very nice subject. I haven't changed her diet and nothing is different in her life. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :o
Carol
This is not all that unusual and if the dog is well and happy and there is no blood involved I'd not worry to much, in fact I would not worry at all. It will settle down after a few days. But if you are concerned then speak to your vet but I'd give it few days unless you are very worried or very rich. What is it about owning a dog turns you into a dedicated poo watcher!!!! Ja:)kie

Dizzy - she hasn't been wormed for a while. Do you think that could be the cause? Would there be any other symptons with worms? Aagh :o

Sometimes I see that with my BCs if they have done too well from the leftovers. or with certain brands of dog food.
BTW, did you know they put SUGAR in dog food these days? Probably the only way they can get our dogs to swallow it......

Hi - I feed my dogs on Burns which is all additive free. I hope thats not the cause. Alice my other tt had soft 'poo' today. I've now wormed them Dizzy so hopefully that will sort them out. Thanks for the reminded about worming. In my defence, if there is one, I can only say that time flies. I have now put a reminder on my calendar for the next dose. :o

let us know if you see any signs, although the new wormers seem to break them up before theyre passed!!-the reason i thought it might be the cause is when ive had litters of pups ,at around the age the books tell you theyll be shedding worm lava i noticed the slime effect too-this went when i wormed them at 3 weeks, but just before the next worming was due at 5 weeks it returned and so on, it could be a coincidence but its worth a try,

Hi Dizzy, Im a real old fashioned girl at heart. I like(?) to see the worms come out, then I know the pups/adults are empty!!

One of my bitches has had this problem before, and it wasn't due to worms, I took her to the vet and it was very mild colitis and he said she didnt need treatment unless there was blood present in her stools.
She gets like this when she has eaten something she isn't used to and certain brands of complete food can do this too.......

Hi Carol,
I'd agree with Emma, that it's probably a mild form of colitis. Our
pyrenean bitch gets it from time to time, usually if she's eaten Shapes
biscuits. Also a lot of the complete foods do not agree with her and I've
just started feeding her on a 100% natural diet, fresh meat, biscuit
seperately and vitamin supplements. It's fiddly and you have to know
what you're doing, but coat results and vigour are amazing.

Hi Emmi
Funnily enough I have been feeding her Shapes. I will stop giving them to her and see what happens.
Oh and Dizzy no sign of worms !!!!! :D

Hi all
Just to let people know that Amy's poo is now back to normal. No sign of worms so it may have been colitis.
Thanks for help
Carol :D
