I would appreciate it if you could spare a little time to give me your thoughts.

Please use this thread to highlight the features which you believe make this board worse than the previous one.

Mark,

Well I have to have at least one complaint :D.

The one thing I think that is off-putting for new members is that maybe there are to many Categories to chose from.

Karen

I tend to agree with you on this one. However can you suggest a better way of arranging the categories ?

As a lot of behavioural problems can be health related also health can affect behaviour I favour combining the two into one "Problems" Catagrees. I'd also like to combine Breeding but cannot think what to call it.
I imagine the "Other Non Dogs Boards" will sort themselves out in time with "Idle Chat taking the bulk of the postings from this area! Sorry Mark, I know Foo is your favourite but most aren’t going to know how to use it, hence the low posting numbers. I may be wrong, it may just need more time.

Regards, John

Thanks for the suggestion John. One of the beauties of this new board is it will only take a few minutes to make the change that you suggest. Posts can easily be moved from one forum to another. Before I do so does anyone else have any other thoughts on how we might better arrange the categories ?

eek Crikey Mark , don't get rid of FOO !
Why not use the title FOO for idle chat ... then you get the best of both worlds :-)

For what its worth, I also agree with John about certain subject overlapping. Maybe het could have a point too, does it need to be this complicated ?
Don't get me wrong .. I love the new board :-)

Yes John, I do agree, I have tried 3 times to look at 'Foo', but got fed up and left! The beauty of old Champdogs was that everything was readily available - threads were easy to follow, people became recognisable - except when imitations came on line (fortunately I only saw these lines when I had time to scan thoroughly - not when I did my usual quick check for replies or advice).
Have looked at the alternative site suggested by other users but have thought it slow and more cumbersome than the 'old Champs'. Will continue checking present champs.

how about just 2 catagories - one for dog related stuff and another for the idal chat - just a thought
By Jeanne [gb] Date 23.05.01 15:42 GMT
I set this to display new messages , but I get LOADS of old ones . Whats gone wrong ? Or , mores to the point , what have I done wrong ? I am getting a load of posts from idle chat still , yet they are supposed to be removed after 5 days , and these are much older than that . Help .

Jeanne

If you amend your bookmark to the site to be

http://www.champdogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/board/forum.pl

then that will fix the problem with the new posts.

I have now changed the description of the Idle Chat forum to more acurately reflect how that forum works, namely topics are deleted if nobody posts in them for 5 days.

Thanks Mark . I will give that a bash .

I agree with Karen about the categories but you know that by now! My other beef is the colours! red and brown or brown and yellow would be a better choice! Light blue and dark blue may be Wycombe Wanderers colours but not this blue!!!
By Admin (Administrator) [gb] Date 23.05.01 20:24 GMT
Sorry John not a lot I can do about the colours. These colours are the Champdogs corporate image :-)

Incidently someone has recently described the colour scheme as being bland. I think that it is clean and unfussy, what do others think ?
By Lindsay (*****) [gb] Date 24.05.01 05:29 GMT
I like the blue, but not too keen on the pea green band at the top.

Sorry, Mark, but I think I'm a bear of very little brain, and long words bother me! Also long set-ups and things. I really liked the old style - I think we've lost all the personality here somehow. I'm in an awful muddle with it all, and now I seem to have all the messages come down on my e-mail as well because I suppose I can't read instructions either. Why is everybody else such smart -alecs????

Jo,

If you click options top right of the screen and scroll down to Default for reply notification checkboxes and disable this that will stop the e-mails coming.

HPH

Karen :-)

Would love to come and see your flatcoats one day.

Hi John, you clever old soul - you managed to puzzle all this out ages before I did! What's with all these smiley thingys now - everybody can use them except me - again!
If you can bring your malt to the Gamekeepers' ring at about 11.00 or again about 2.oo, we should be there, and could probably do with a hand!! I don't know how well pilchard sandwiches will travel in this heat!
See you?

Thanks, Mark, my profile did need a bit of editing - can I have a little tuck under the chin as well?

Love, Jo
By John (*****) [gb] Date 25.05.01 17:23 GMT
Jo, You don't need a tuck anywhere! and the little smiley things, have a look at the help and all will be clear.

Best wishes, John
By J [gb] Date 25.05.01 17:27 GMT
Take no notice of him Jo! He's just trying to be clever and impress you.

Right, I'm off to pinch his malt before he notices!!! J :p ;-)
By JoFlatcoat (Moderator) Date 26.05.01 12:51 GMT
John - if you get this- will you , or could you, be round the keepers' ring (Hall4) around 11 and ?or 2.00 - I'm having a little panic that our 3rd handler won't be able to make it as her sister's been in a car accident. She might be there, but I can't bank on it.
