I bought six fully feathered goslings a few weeks ago as my old gander and his "wife" did not have any fertile eggs this year.

They have taken up agility - I have the jumps set at dog height and one youngster appeared to quite deliberately knock the bar down so it rested on the legs of the jump and then all six and the goose went over, back and over again whilst the gander watched. They have also been at least half way up the A frame (they left evidence!) and go though the rigid tunnel so I have had to turn this on end as the dogs stop to snack on their way though.

I know there are mini, midi and maxi agility competitions but are there any for geese?

Ya know....
I'm thinking that they watched "Babe" through the window one night and determined the nutty duck on screen had a point. They either had to be active or useful to humans to survive. If they don't get fat, but stay fit/trim, they won't be served up for one day for dinner :D :D :D

Most types of Geese are good at agility, especially those with Border Terriers stuck to their tail feathers !!! :D :D :D

Wonder if it would improve the Dobe's jumping if they had a goose attached to their tails?

Certainly made Maverick jump when she was innocently having a drink out of their pond and one had a go at her :D

But you saw Maverick get got though - what more do you want - <g>

To All,

When I invited Beth to go Gosling Hunting with me she was somewhat surprised and, much to my surprise, perturbed. It seemed a perfectly normal suggestion to me.

For someone who is not keen on birds to have to watch me trying to sex them (their owners had no idea) and then carry one to my van and help me unload them at the other end I thought Beth did exceptionally well. The Mockodile would have been delighted to join in but I did draw the line at that - he is shortly to undergo chicken training!!!!!!!!!!

Happy now? :-)
