Hi am interested in finding a breeder of border x lakeland terrier puppies. for a pet not working dog. am in surrey area but happy to travel for right dog.
wouldn't be ready to get until mid Jan 09 and prefer a dog to a bitch.

Not many people would deliberately cross the two breeds, so you're looking for an accidental litter. Nobody can predict when an accident will happen!

Why not choose one breed or the other?

Actually, a lot of people cross these two breeds!

However, they are virtually always bred for working purposes - not to say that they don't have good natures and make a nice, but energetic family pet. (The sensible traits of the Border balance the 'hardness' of the Lakeland - Borders are notoriously slow to start working, whereas Lakies can be very headstrong and get themselves into trouble when underground.)

I would suggest that you look in Countryman's Weekly, there are often pups advertised there.

Just to add a friend at training class has two border x lakeland terriers, and went to the same breeder for both so I think they might be a popular cross. Even though both girls are from a similar breeding they do look very different, one being very leggy and the other much stockier so you might not know exactly what you are gonna get! Both lovely dogs though and compete in flyball and agility.
