I have to say that all the message from everyone have helped me through this and its been a great support.

He sadly came to the end of his short life this afternoon.
The transfusion made no difference. The toxin was out of his body but for some unknown reason even to the vets his own body was attacking itself and there was no hope, everything that could be done was done.

He was such a joy to live with and the best Lab we've ever had, don' think any other Lab would ever compare.
He loved life, people and most other dogs. He loved playing ball, he was so gentle and he melted the hearts of everyone who met him.
He never did anything wrong(well apart from stealing food from the work surface) and he was one dog i have never complained about. He was a perfect gentleman in the dog world.

Run free young man and enjoy playing up there on the rainbow bridge.

So sorry, my heart goes out to you. There was nothing more you could do, so however much grief you feel, don't blame yourself in any way.

In time, when you feel able, I hope you might be able to find out where he ingested the toxin and get some kind of redress.

He sounded a truly lovely dog. Take care.
By suejaw (****) [gb] Date 27.10.08 18:14 GMT
We will never find out where he got the toxin from as there is no way of proving exactly what was in his system.
An autopsy would show nothing other than tumors and that kind of thing.

He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Sue I am so very very sorry - I think you did all you could for him and I know from your posts how heartbroken you must be.

Run free Bentley - look out for a lovely Irish gal up there she'll take care of you - I am sure there are plenty of work surfaces for you to steal from and lots of balls to play with

((HUGS SUE))

Thanks for all the kind messages. Not sure why i come on here to read them. Sets the tears flowing again.
I know i'm not alone and we all have to go through this at some time or another, but i feel that any young dog passing away is more tragic than an elderly one who has had their life.

With the heart break this has caused i'm praying that Kai doesn't fall down with any problems which are known in the breed which often take them at a young age.

I am always so sad when I read that someone has lost a beloved pet, its so hard to lose them and so easy to love them and let them in your heart. God Bless youll meet again on Rainbow Bridge as we all will someday meet our beloved dogs. Love never really dies you know, not once you have been lucky enough to share it with your dog.
