I sit here feeling very down tonight.  Thought that we were getting along with our dog better these days.  She has snapped (and made contact)at my OH again tonight for seemingly no reason.  But of course there is always a reason.  She hasn't been hundred percent - I suspect kennel cough again or some other thing like a scratched throat - no good taking her to the vet because she won't tolerate anyone looking down her throat without sedation I am sure.   My OH was stroking her - and he was crowding her - leaning over her and stroking her down the side of her head and throat.  Whatever it was she suddenly snapped - she had plenty of opportunity to walk away if she wasn't happy but no she snapped and growled at him.  So tomorrow I have to start some sort of action - muddled as what to do first.  Probabally phone the border collie rescue that folks have recommended before.  Hoped it would never come to this but I have to take action.  Just choked tonight.  My agility trainer praised me so much the other day for how we are coming on there ..... thought I was getting somewhere with her.

I am so sorry to hear your news Christine.
Is there absolutley nothing to be done with her? Maybe it would be worthwhile getting the throat checked out and risk the sedation, just to rule that out. Would it be worth a referral to a behavourist? I am sure you have considered all these, and I am not helping by rambling.
I am going away to have a good hard think / research see if i can find anything that may be of help to you, it would be such a shame for you both for it to end like this :-(
It's late, so I am off for now. I will check back in the am to see how you are :-)

Take care

Thanks Debbie
I have posted on the behaviour board in the past and had lots of suggestions.  I have now e-mailed Wiccaweys rescue centre for advice.  They will know whether this sort of behaviour can be sorted out.  I believe they do have their own behavourists.   I am concerned about her throat - she has coughed more today then any other day.  I have bought benyllin to try.  This has gone on since Saturday night when she had her first cough.  I would have thought that if she had anything caught in her throat she would have coughed when she was busy pulling at agility - she always gets very worked up there and she didn't cough once until later in the evening.  She coughs when she gets up from her bed in the morning - she sounds throaty if she has a little woof at the paper boy.   Then she seems better.  She eats her food with no bother and generally seems fine.  Oh well will keep up with my blog because it gives me a chance to think as I put things down in words.  Thanks for reading it.
Christine
