there are some breeders about in the uk ive seen a fue parti  colours at dog grooming comps one of my customers has one but she is very badley bred to be careful that u dont get a rubbish poodle

Partis do occasionally turn up in litters, but they're not common, and no reputable breeder deliberately breeds for them. Your best bet is to contact all the toy poodle breed clubs and make it known that you're looking for one. Be prepared for a long wait (maybe several years) though.

There is a breeder in the UK with imported Miniature parti colour poodles & there is an entry on this site but the contact details are out of date.

I can PM you a contact number for her, but I don't know if it is still current

I met a woman at our village fete (Somerset) with a parti poodle.  I'm not particularly knowledgeable about poodles but it was one of the bigger ones (standard?).  We got talking as she had her agility equipment set up in the grounds and she explained she had imported this one from the States but that they are not really accepted or common over here.  I think she was a fanatic/fancier and she was explaining a proposed breeding programme with one person in the UK and another in America.  I may have tuned out a bit at that point but I did get the impression from her that there were a group of people in the UK that were keen and that they were going to form a club.

I guess this is the wrong size for you but if they are on the internet somewhere they may have contacts you could speak to.  I'm with the others on here though that say health must be the most important consideration and if you do find someone that is deliberately breeding for colour in this way do be careful to check their lines/breeding and consult with more conventional breeders too for a bit of balance.

Be careful you don't get fleeced.  In the past if a parti turned up in a litter unexpectedly the pup would normally be sold at a reduced price without papers but now in this day of the designer dog there are certain people who charge more than a normal poodle puppy would cost because its "rare"!!!!!!!!  Although cute and very attractive the parti's are not an acceptable colour in the breed standard so don't be told otherwise and charged a fortune for one.

Health AND temerament are always more important than colour .
As others have said , parti's are not 'rare' they are considered a fault , however i think that you will end up spending more to get what you want .
Remember to ensure that the parents have had all the relevant health checks or the dog may end up costing you a fortune in vets bills !!

Perhaps someone could put a link to the toy poodle page with the neccesary health checks on ?  ( Because i can't !!! )

I have experience of this woman in Somerset who is banned from this site.

She originally wanted to introduce the Merle gene into the mini poodle which I totally disagreed with hence no contact any longer.  At that time she had 15 dogs a boxer, JRT and 1 of my schipperkes, I was totally taken in and fooled by her, she had an accidental litter with one of the parson bitches to her boxer!  2 of the puppies from this litter later turned out to be extremely dangerous to a poodle she'd imported from a breeder in Ireland, at that time they called them Phantom poodles.  The next I heard she was rehoming all her dogs had got a dapple Dachie so her merle plans were ongoing, with a litter on the ground of dachie x JRT any surplus puppies are 'donated' to the Hearing dogs for the deaf.

She was breeding Mini poodles,  was in partnership with another forum member importing Schapendoe but there has been nothing more in any KC or dog publications since their first listing in a rare breeds supplement a few years back.

There's a lady on another site that seems to be doing everythig properly, I know she used to be on the Dogsey website and did health tests etc.  She had min Poodles.

It will be the same person Perrodeagua, she does all the health tests etc, had a shop for a while selling a lot of holistic animal stuff, then appeared online claiming she was living in her car with the dogs, then it was living in as a groomer with her last website listing as landlord not renewing her lease so she'd got to move out.
By Moonmaiden (*****) [gb] Date 08.01.09 17:30 GMT
LOL Schip it was in a Tent with her dogs before the house & now it's a van she's living after being evicted by her landlord !

She also had an accidental mating whilst in the van and had to get someone to whelp for her . She said that  the pups would be going to hearing dogs , but they were seen for sale on an internet site - i believe one went to hearing dogs .

Makes you wonder why people import if they are like this?!!!!  How about having a SWD instead :-)  Parti-colours are accepted, although not the easiest of breeds, though I love um :-) :-)

Likewise with Lagottos. Much easier, I'd have thought.

I breed toy poodles but the last thing you want is a parti coloured. When my mother in law bred years ago they were classed as mismarks and sold off cheaply. Ocassionally 1 will appear with a slight marking but it is such a disappointment when they do. There is a lady in Wales who claims to breed them. If you are still interested pm me and I will give you her name but I would advise you to go for a solid colour.

I found a breeder in Wales selling parti's and other 'doodles' so i e-mailed them for details of health testing . I took their lack of reply to mean that they didn't do any !!

Remember : health tests , health , temperament ,  colour .

Actually it was a caravan on my friends field in  Shropshire, she used to come to my house for meals and showers, then she moved in with another ex forum member until she got the shop setup. Then I do believe she posted on 'another' forum that she was living in her car with the dogs and enjoying waking up in the woods,  her words not mine, so this is the 3rd time she's had to live rough with her dogs since summer of 04 am so glad my boy isn't with her anymore.

Saw standard one at an open show a few years ago.  As you can imagine ringside was packed to see what the judge would do!
By suz1985 (****) [gb] Date 09.01.09 18:17 GMT
what did the judge do??

From what i can remember it came 2nd out of 2. Couldn't really see much as the ring was so crowed with just about everyone who was not showing elsewhere watching! Not much pressure on the judge!

There is a male parti standard poodle that goes to my agility club, his owner only has a couple of other standard poodles,I think this is likely to be the person that dogs a babe met at the fair in Somerset,as far as I'm aware she hasn't had lots of different breeds so she can't be the woman schip knows.
By Schip (****) [gb] Date 10.01.09 18:36 GMT
The individual I know has a very distinctive face if that's any help.  I've just found out she's told folk she lost her money from the sale of her house to someone who she was buying a house/land with, seems they cough *I* ran off with it, been a long time since I laughed so hard I must confess.  Thought the story I got from folk who contacted me via the SPUD website re my breeding practises was far fetched but have to say the money one is the best so far lol.

Hi helenmd, yes sounds like the lady.  Only has standard poodles, lived in the village for a while, has started a club (I saw something on in an american poodle magazine when I did a search), does agility, initials SB
