I would love to know where you buy yours, as it is over £20 here for 250ml, but it is about £8 in Poland, so I get relatives to bring me 4 bottles which will do mine for a year. Trouble is they don't go that often!

I pay £23 for 250ml :-( yet, I paid peanuts for it in Europe and didn't need to see a vet to buy it!

I pay about £23 for the 3 applications here in Lincs too Leigh :-(

Maybe I should move house?

I pay £12 for three pipettes for the cat. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't need the frontline

We have a BIG problem with ticks here ..there are so many hedgehogs and other wildlife that Hudson has had 2 ticks already (yuk , yuk ) so I changed from Advantage to Frontline. The Frontline (according to the blurb) protects against fleas for 2 months (each pipette) but for only 1 month against ticks ....so what do you do?

:-(

We are lucky Melody, I think in 20 years, I have only ever had to remove one tick that my dog picked up whilst out working. At the time, I gave it a quick spray with Nuvan Top and that was the end of it. I don't know if stronghold offers any cover, might be worth investigating?

Wow, that is an achievement. We get loads on our lot but not when they have been working on the moor. They get most of them on a local foresty commission walk. Goldy, the oldest pointer seems to get the most. No idea why. They are little buggers but I am loathe to stop going to the forest as the dogs absolutely love it.

Spray???? I didn't know it came in that form! Mine come prepackaged treatments --3 applications for about 12 pounds. But I use the "med" size and split each treatment for use on my two smalls.
But I'm very intrigued about the spray type :-)

Dont use the 'spot on' anymore ( I use Stronghold) but my Vet charges £18 for the £3 pack. I paid about £12 for my last spray (which I use on pups)

Gwen does the Stronghold come in a spray also? I have a fox problem here and I am thinking of swopping my lot over to Stronghold, but I would rather use a spray?
By gwen (***) [gb] Date 06.08.02 08:41 GMT
Hi Leigh, as far as I know it only comes as a spot on. It is available in a whole range of sizes - I have to get 3, one for the cat, a pug size and a cocker size!

Thanx Gwen. I will check it out :-)

I prefer the spray,a you ensure it goes everywhere on the dog, two squirts per kg! It also lasts up to three months, whereas they recomend treating again with the ampules sooner. I use it as a preventative every three months on mine, as the oldest used to get awful hot spots from flea alergy, even though vet could not find any on her! since using frontline spray she hasnot had this problem.

Hi all thanks for all replies.

My vet is really good and generally gives me most things at discount.

He had 100ml bottles for £10 of Frontline but gave my a 500ml for £25 which I thought was really really good. £5 for 100mls.

I have never used any treatment on my westies except Garlic everyday and this seems to work so far but I have a cat also that I caught having a scratch the other day although could not see a thing.

I wanted the spray as hopefully less concentrated on the skin as most of you know westies are a bit sensitive and although I have never had any problems with my 2, I am always careful. ( Wrapped in cotton wool) I am going to blitz my cat and half the dose on the dogs. Do any of you find that some dogs just scratch for the sake of scratching or to alarm us..

Is it possible to buy Frontline over the internet? I did a search on Yahoo (UK only and including US) and couldnt find anywhere. My vet charges a fortune for the stuff.
By fleetgold [gb] Date 09.08.02 12:58 GMT
It cannot be sold in this country without a veterinary prescription so you won't be able to buy it from any cannine chemist in the UK. You can buy it over the counter in Republic of Ireland or in Europe and you can then bring it into the UK but I'm not sure about the legality of purchasing over the internet and bringing into the country.

I did purchase it off a US site, but when I got it I was charged duty on it, plus a handling charge by the Post Office, so it worked out aa dear as here. Your best bet is to ask a friend to get you some when they go on holiday to Europe.

Or perhaps I might be able to send it to someone since there's no customs from EU to UK???? But I have no idea if I can get it any cheaper over here. confused
cool
By pamela Reidie [gb] Date 09.08.02 23:34 GMT
Louise where are you?

What size are you looking for?

I am in Fife. I can get it form my vet quite cheap.
