Today at 5pm we have to take my 15yrs old dog jesse,to be pts as she has been unwell for the last few days.please say a prayer for us as i dont know how i can do this today but i know i have too.
She has always been know has our pretty princess even though her name is jesse, the most loving and faithfull dog who has been with us for all our ups and downs as a family it just seems we are letting her down now.
Everybody we have spoken to have said it is the kindest think we can do for her, but i feel sick and cant stop crying, hubby is coming home early so we can take her for a walk one last time but he is very upset too.

I'm so sorry. Try to be strong. We all here know just how hard it is, but sometimes it's the greatest gift we can give to our best friend.
Marianne. Dogs are not our whole lives, there are cats too!

Everybody that reads you post will be thinking of you and hoping for you to be strong for this

It really is the worst thing about keeping dogs. I'm sick to my stomach when I even think about what you're going through.
It never gets any easier but if you love them you must do your best for them.
Your Princess has obviously had a long and happy life - full of her families love.
Thinking of you at this sad time.

I am so sorry to hear that.  We had our 17 year old cat put to sleep on Friday and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done.  I take comfort in the fact that we helped her in the end and didn't suffer.

I miss her terribly but know it was the right thing to do.

We all know what a hard thing it is to do, what you went through yesterday.

thank you all  or your kind replies, very difficult yesterday but i believe that we did the right thing, she was very peaceful passed very quickly, i do have a small since of relief that she has no more pain, but its coming home and shes not here, calling her name for a walk. I think it will take a real long time to stop feeling this way but it is the path that we have to choose for the love of the dog, better a day to soon than a moment to late, a true quote.
Kind Regards

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this.  It is nearly three months since I had to do the same for my beautiful girl Madi.  I sobbed constantly for a good few weeks and even now, when I am drifting off to sleep I feel the tears on my cheeks because I miss her so much.  It still hurts to think I had to do that for her but when I remember how labored her breathing was and how she used to pace with the pain, I know I did the right thing.

I have lost both my dad and my brother, but losing my girl cut through me in such a different way.  Just go with it and allow yourself those moments to miss her and feel the pain.

My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear that you have had to say good bye to Jesse but that is the final act that you could do for her and the right thing.  Jesse will have a place in your heart that will never go so although she may not be there for her walk she walks with you. Thinking of you
