I've just returned from taking the boys for a walk - as you do;) Buddy went for a poo - it was softer than normal and had a faint streak of blood in it. After half an hour he tried to go again but just did a small amount of very very runny poo. Again - there looked to be a touch of blood in it. In himself he is fine - just the same nutter as always. Eating normally, drinking normally, weeing normally - whatever normal is for a mad cocker:D
Should I get him to the vet today, or see how he goes on until say tomorrow.
Don't want to waste anybody's time but also don't want my boy ill.

Instead of going to the vet, why don't you phone him, and ask his advice, in the meatime if your dog has a touch of the runs, I would just give water for 24 hours, then give a light diet of say chicken and rice and see how things go from their.

Pam, personally I wouldn't panic yet

If your lad has a bit of an upset tummy and is straining a little, maybe he has just burst one of the tiny blood vessels in that area? If it is only a streak I wouldn't worry. Give him something light to eat today and see how you go

I fully agree with leigh.....thats what I would do with mine......just keep an eye on it.
You are there so you must be guided by what you see. If as you say everything else is normal I don’t think I'd bother my vet at this time. I'd keep a watching brief and just be ready to go if things deteriorates. In all possibilities it is nothing to worry about although of course we do worry!

Thanks Sam and John
There has been further evidence of anything being amis. He is his normal self so it looks like things are OK. I'll keep an eye out and if anyting else looks wrong then I'll contact the vet.
kind regards
Pam n the boys - who are sniffing me like mad as I've just been to my friends who has Jasper's sister and another Cocker:D eeuuuggghhh - I've now got a very soggy arms where Jasper has given it a thorough going over:(

Hi Pammy.
Red streaked poo is generall OK, it's when the blood appears very dark or black you should take it further.
Don't worry.
Dawn.
