Hi all,

Hope you can help me here.
I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who's dog has, a day or two after applying Frontline Spot-On, developed a 'Hot Spot' (also known as Wet Eczema) around the area of application.

Many thanks
Jacquie

I don't use the spot on, as I started using the spray to prevent hot spots/wet excema on my oldest bitch.

Before coming back from the World Show in Amsterdam my girls had the Spot on, and did seem to be itchy. I have used the Spray for 5 years now, every three months, with no ill effects, and no fleas.

Hi Jacquie, My last mal bitch lost all her hair for 6 inches around the area where the Frontline had been applied. She didn't get wet ecxema but it took nearly a year before her undercoat grew back in that area and I never treated her with Frontline again. The current thug didn't seem to have a problem, but you've just made me think back and since the application he has had a lot of hot spots with wet eczema with the accompanying trip to the vet for cream etc. We thought it was his diet so changed it. That made things better, but he has just started licking his fur off the inside of his back leg. I don't know whether this is the Frontline residue in his skin or the weather, but we are due for another dose so if the hot spots increase after it, I'll know it is the Frontline and will have to try something else. Maybe it's something to do with mals? confused

Anyway, if you see a mal with patchy fur at the club show, you'll know why!

One of my hounds had a reaction to Frontline Spot on - she had a sore/like a burn where it was put. I notified my vet who reported it to the Frontline rep.

Hi Pam, your vet should report reactions like this to the VMD. Vets code of conduct "actively encourage it". If your vet won`t/doesn`t report it you can do it yourself. The companies are LEGALLY bound to report vac.reactions so think its the same with chemicals or drugs. This is not very well known & I only found out myself when they saw I wasn`t going to let it drop. You are entitled to report any suspected reactions.
