Hi, my name is Tamara and I'm from Michigan. I rescued a dog from an animal shelter and he was very old.....he could not see well or hear well and had heart problems....he was ten years old or older. I wasn't sure what kind of dog he was untill now. He passed away yesterday and I just want him back. He needed me so much....he would not eat until I came home....he was so sad all day while he waited for me and when I walked through the door he wagged his tail and sounded like chewbacca from star wars.....and then he would act like a puppy. He could never sit still for long....I fell so in love with this dog I call Bear. He was a Catalan Sheepdog/chow mix. He had black fur and I always had to lift his hair out of his eyes when I waited to long to groom him. He was adorable and lovable and so good with the kids. Someday I hope to find Bear again but in puppy form.....If anyone knows of where I can find Catalon Sheepdogs ...it would be so much appreciated...

:-(

Thank You so much...

Tamara

I am so sorry you have lost your old friend, TamaraLynne, but I think you need to reconsider getting another dog, particularly a herding breed, if you are not able to be with it for much of the day.  Unless, of course, you mean someone else is there and he was just pining for you to come home.
I think your old boy probably tolerated it as he was ready for a sedentary life but a puppy would find it very lonely and frustrating and could become very stressed and distructive.

Thank You Isabel .....

i have eight kids and I have one child in college but still lives at home. So she has been with Bear during the day. But soon she will be getting married . My husband has considered going to second shift to save on daycare costs....but then that leaves little time for my husband and me. Still wishing we could win the Lotto and get to stay home.....  :-)

But yes it is important to have someone at home....at least alot of the time.

If you want a pedigree dog like the Catalan you would be given the best advice and information on breeders from the Kennel Club where you live. If thats the UK then it is the Kennel Club www.thekennelclub.org.uk however if you are in the USA for example you would need to contact the American Kennel Club http://www.akc.org/

Hope that helps you get sorted.
