I wanted you to stay - but I had to love you enough to let you go. And it hurts so much. We shared such a special bond. As a youngster I loved doing obedience with you in full show coat. You used to get so excited when you realised that we were on our way to the conservation park for another session.
I loved it when you were asked to demonstrate the "leave" for the baby Border Collies in the beginners classes. You never let me down once. Your eyes never left my face, waiting for the next command. So we sarted doing tracking, and you were in your element. The trainer always said that he could see the bigger dogs racing through the long grass. But you were only little, so he had no idea how far you had got until he heard that excited yelp that said you had found me. We have so many memories, don't we?
In over 30 years, this is the first time there has been no Toy Poodle in the house, to keep the rest in order. They all knew you were boss, and when you could no longer see, and walked into them, it was them that got told off - and they weren't allowed to answer you back. Misty I miss you so much. I wanted to celebrate your 17th birthday in September, but it wasn't to be. But I held you to the end, and told you what a good girl you are.
Run free Moo Moo, until we meet again.
