My beautiful gsd Dessa has died suddenly this lunchtime. She was fine this am,went for a potter round the field with me,came home and had her breakfast,nothing wrong at all. I left her with my son while I went to do my lunch calls,got back home,she greeted me as usual then 2 mins later she was dead on the floor.No warning no sound no struggle,she just lay down and died. I am distraught but at least I know she did not suffer.
Rest In Peace my precious girl.

What a wonderful age to have reached & the ideal way for her to go to The Bridge-at home with her family. Our last GSD woke me up at 4.50 am & then laid down & when back to sleep & never woke up again. Heart breaking for me & my dad, but so pleased that she went to The Bridge in her own time.

Run free at The Bridge Dessa, you will find my Dad surrounded by GSDs, which will be being herded by my BCs & bounced on by my Beardies & washed by my Cavaliers. I'm sure he'll have a special treat for you.

I am so sorry but yes, what a long life and what a lovely peaceful way to go for Dessa. A lot harder for you to take it all in, I know, but really what we all wish for our oldies. HUGS.

Oh she was a lovely girl,my best obedience dog once she managed to remember that stay meant stay and not get up have a look round then put herself back in the correct position so that when I turned to return to her she looked like she had'nt moved a paw!!
Thank you moon maiden for your comment on my site,much appreciated as are all the replies to my postxxxxxx

How heartbreaking, I just had a look at her on your website, what a beautiful girl she was, she passed over in one of the best ways she ever could, I know that does not fill that large hole of grief right now, but I'm pleased it was peaceful and quick for her.

My deepest condolences.

17 years young - what a wonderful age to have reached!   And how wonderful to know that she waited until you had got home for lunch, so that she could greet you/say goodbye.

It's heartbreaking - our beloved dogs have such a hold on our hearts.   {{{hugs}}}

The dog star will shine extra bright tonight.

What a shock for you, but a lovely quick, gentle end for her, with the people she loved around. Sleep well, Dessa.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely replies. I am still so shocked and upset at losing my beautiful girl. My poor Roscoe is lost at the min as I always took her out with him and he sits in the car wondering where she is,yesterday he did not woof once and the pair of them always woofed together!Bed time is awful as I always had to wait for her to help her upstairs. I've taken her to be cremated and that was so hard as well.Perhaps once I get her back home I will feel a bit better. If I had known what was going to happen I could have given her one last hug and told her how much I loved her and how special she was and held her when she went.At the moment all I can see is her on the floor all alone even though I was only 10 feet away from her. I have lots of memories of her and the things she has done over the yrs,some very funny and some downright naughty bless her!!
Run free my precious girl till we meet again at the bridge xxxxx

So very sorry to hear of your loss.  She sounds like she was a wonderful girl.  Bless her.  May she run free at the bridge, always waiting for that moment that you two meet again.   (((((((hugs))))))))

Really sorry for your loss, my Affennpinscher went very much the same way, he got up said hello to everyone then scoffed his breakfast as he always did, layed down to have his after breakfast snooze and went to sleep forever, wonderful way to go, I hope I am as lucky when its my time to go.
