I received 2 bags of orijen last week, both the chicken variety.  I have opened one bag and it smells of fish and the kibble looks different - infact just like the fish one!
I am guessing that there has been a mix up and the fish variety has been bagged in the wrong bag.  Has anyone else come across this and if so did they let orijen know or the  supplier?

Sounds like a huge mix up back in Canada there. I would contact the supplier first and foremost and if no joy then contact Orijen direct. Fish kibble is flat in shape and oily to feel and yes stinks of fish..

It may not be a huge mix up mearly an incorrect bag in the filling line. Who knows.

If you like the fish use it as it is more expensive anyway

I would certainly let the place you bought it from and contact Orijen direct and let them know. The batches will be numbered on the bags.

I will get onto it as there may be some dogs that may not be able to eat fish and so there could be future problems.

I doubt I'll be able to get that batch number as the bag was thrown away last week as I empty the food into tubs that are easier for me to store.

Hi georgepig, I opened a new bag of orijen large breed puppy yesterday and it reeks of fish although the other bags haven't.  fish is an ingredient of it but not the main one.  Did you have any joy getting yours swapped?  I will be contacting the stockist I order from to see if there has been issues.

No I just fed it to him as he seemed to enjoy it and we have had no nasty surprises and he's on to the second bag now.

Is it one of the "new" packs, because if so the recipe has changed slightly and I think more fish is included. That may be the cause?

yes, it is in slightly different packaging so that might be it.
