pup only weighs 7.9kg(should be around 13kg) he is 9 1/2 weeks old ,hes had 2 lots of the runs (we now know why) the slightst change of food does this to him ...he was weand onto betta pup large breed and i tried to change it over 10days but he couldnt handle it ,he dont eat alot should eat around 90g 4times a day im lucky if i can get 60g down him each meal , maybe if i could get him to eat more he would put weight on but he not !!...he looks and feels soooo thin .i just dont know how im going to get some weight on him ,im at a loss ...is there anything i could give him without coursing the runs and him  gaining  weight ,i took him to the vets yesterday he was not well with the runs but is ok now ,and eating his dry meal ...he would eat chicken and rice ....and only eats his food dry now he dont like it soaked !! is there anything i can do ???? he is a gsd puppy..

Raw green tripe is what old breeders used to give pups and dogs to gain weight before all this processed food.  Many still do today.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a GSD puppy up to the "normal"weight for their age. If he's had a stomach upset, then he will have lost weight. If he's not eating properly you could try B Sorb, it's an appetite stimulant with natural ingredients.

Has he been tested for EPI ?

His body type will depend on his breeding, some lines are very slim as puppies.

we did talk about EPI Moonmaiden ,our vet said if his poo doesnt go back to normal in the next 48h we need to take a poo sample in ,his poo is just starting to furm up abit ,so i will see what its like tomorrow ,he is from german lines ,i will get intouch with the breeder to see if pups tend to be on the slim side as pups thanks for that !!....where can i get B sorb from please?? if i give him that could it give him the runs?? x

is that very gental on the tum westcoast ??? if so i might try i very small bit to see ...thanku x

If he's German lines then he will be slimmer than the more English type, he's a bit young TBH to have EPI.

B Sorb It shouldn't upset his stomach or intestines.

I forgot to mention I would give him cooled boiled water as it could be as simple as a change in the water thet has upset him

or bottled water!

I always ask new owners who dont live in my area to give bottled water and gradually introduce thier own.

Have you been giving him chicken as all my dogs get the runs if I give more than a slither of chicken , if they have upset tummies I give potato and white fish.

moonmaiden can i pic your brains plz .....why do you think he is to young??? is EPI somthing dogs get when their older??? i dont understand why the vet thinks he may have it !!
should i bother with a poo sample now or just wait and see if he gets the runs again with any change of food ??? hes just had a poo and its gone hard now

Symptoms include weight loss, polyphagia(excessive eating), coprophagia, pica(eating non food substances), diarrhoea, increased borborygmus(rumbling stomach), and flatulence.

Dogs have it from birth, but it usually doesn't manifest itself until the dog is around 8 months old & the pancreas no longer produces enough enzymes to absorb all the nutrients from the food.
