My bitch is half way through her first season. She seems ok generally, wants to play as normal etc, but her training seems lacklustre compared to normal. she has started agility and flyball training but i have found that when we were training in the garden the other day she just lacked enthusiasm and was not as good as she has been. Is this normal behaviour during a season? Someone told me to expect her to be a little out of sorts for 6 weeks and i'm wondering whether i should just forget training her for that time as i don't want to undo all the good work we have done so far.

Yes, this is normal; personally I'd ease off a bit with the training for a while till she's more enthusiastic.

My girl is all over the place when in season and we just have a break from training as she is just not the same

I'm so glad to hear that! I thought maybe she wasn't going to fulfil her potential as she has previously shown herself to be quite keen and was worried i had done something wrong! I'll give her a break and then start again when she is back to her usual self, thanks.

yes ease of thraining, its all normal, my bitch gets really hot and drinks all the time. i walk her in eth morning when it is cooler, and she sleeps alot and once she has reached 7 days she is as nutty as ever and wants to get to any male she can.

but every bitch is slightly different.

My bitch behaves completely different during seasons too. I can tell even before her season arrives that it is on its way! Soon gets back to normal though, thank goodness it is a 6 monthly cycle and not monthly!! :-)

i can tell when my bitch is coming in two months before, she gets lots of energy and at shows she flirts with the stud dogs at shows.
