Help i have a 16 week old crossbred pup that we have taken in. Weds he became quite poorly, not drinking just laying down all the time, then he  started to be sick. He went into the vets, on a drip. He has not has far has i know had any injection. They have done blood test, x=rays and a scan, nothing shows.Apart from some wind in his tummy I was worried about parvo etc ( i also have 3 other dogs all well) His temp was 40 but this has now dropped.They have sent him home with zantac and clavaseptin pills
He has  come home to see if we can get him to eat, but he just turns his nose away and hides his face. Is also very sleepy.
He came here on Sunday and was fine until Weds morning, I also had taken him to the vets on Monday just for a check up and injection but they wouldn't give him his injection because he has had fleas and had lots of sore spots from them on his tummy, apart from that they gave him a clean bill of health and thankfully 4 weeks free insurance. I dont want to lose him but i am very worried.

I think you need to get back to the vet to play safe -can't really advice anything else. Fingers crossed, it must be such a worry for you.

Been up most of the night just watching him,(well it seems like it) while he as been sleeping on my bed. He has had a couple of wees put i cant get him to drink now, they tell me he was lapping ok. Think he will be going back in when they open. Just feel so sorry for him,

He could be dehydrated to test this try pinching the skin on the back of his neck - if it stays pinched or goes back slowly he needs rehydrating

You could try syringing some dioralyte into him or if you can't get it, mix 8 teaspoons of Glucose and one of salt with 1LITRE of warm water and try dropping some onto his tongue, this will help to rehydrate him and give him a bit of energy.   It's possible that he doesn't have the energy to even drink at the moment

If he isn't dehydrated and the skin goes back quickly, try some glucose and water mixed, you may have to drop it on his tongue (syringe is best ) at first but I've seen dramatic improvements in dogs using this.

I would still get him to the vets asap tho

I phoned the vet,s first and they didn't want me to bring him straight back because he had been on a drip until we collected him last night. He wasn't dehydrated and they felt he would become more stressed if he went back in. They just wanted him to start eating. If i felt that i couldn't cope then they would have him back.
We got to 9.30am when my daughter came home, she offered him some chicken and he ate it., since then he has had food little and often, started to drink mid afternoon and today he has been eating and drinking fine, temp has stayed down and he has just knicked my mince beef slice off the work top !!!!!
Going back to the vet's for a check up tomorrow afternoon. I just cant get over the change. We really thought we would lose him and told the children this, not sure what was wrong maybe the vet will have some anwsers.
