Hi all,
our 3 year old bitch who is currently 7 weeks into her pregnancy has started fighting with our other two bitches but is fine with our two boys. We have completely seperated them now but we have had some very serious fights, as in as soon as she saw them she would pounce on them and we would have to rip them off each other. It is her first pregnancy and i have never heard of this before. We had a litter last year from one of our other bitches and she never showed any aggression throughout her whole pregnancy, I understand all dogs are differant but why is she doing this just to the other bitches but being completely fine with the boys!!!????!!! and is it just a pregnancy thing or will she always fight with our bitches now?
also yes she is a completly healthy dog before anyone asks!
please help!

It's likely  a pregnancy thing. I have a bitch like this -from the DAY she is mated she cannot be near any other bitches, when the pups are about 5 weeks old she's back to normal again. Just meant keeping her separate for around 17 weeks (season + pregnancy + first few weeks.)

I can sympathise as one of my girls was a nighmare from the day she was mated for her first mating which shocked me she wouldnt allow one of my other girls into the living area of the house!
For her second litter we delayed putting them all together for a day/night gave her a little wash as  she did pong of dog!
then let them play all together in the garden ..she was fine and her last mating repeated the same again she was fine.

I have heard since that it is quite common with bitches for thier first mating.

I keep them seperate once puppies have arrived and gradually let her join the gang when she is ready ...get the leads out and she is lining up with the rest.
