At work we've had an enquiry from a farmer, he's looking for a Huntaway pup to train.  Can anyone recommend someone please, he's willing to travel.

Never heard of one before, but just briefly looked at the links Brainless has posted. There doesn't appear to be a huge amount of consistency in the 'breed' type. The varying sizes says a lot from the size of a BC to that of a Rottie. Interesting though.

They are a New Zealand breed and are very good working dogs in NZ. One of my very good friends husband has two as working farm dogs and they are very impressive as a working dog and not known any as nutters but only know them as working dogs in New Zealand.

We used to have one but we moved house and couldn't offer it the work it needed so found a working home for him.  Really beautiful dog with a fantastic temperament with kids and other dogs, ours was fairly mad but not really any more so than our working spaniels.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.

Thanks for that molezak.  The person looking for one is experienced with Border Collies, so certainly one that knows an active breed, and is very good at training them, so I feel confident that he's done his homework.  He does want the dog for working so it wouldn't be a waste.

Interesting to note they're good with kids - but I guess, same as most kids brought up with working breeds, they are taught to respect them (the kids are taught to respect the dogs I mean!)  :-)
