Hi, I have a 14 week old staffy pup who is currently being fed Hills Natures Best mini/medium. He has the recommended amount as specified on the bag, but he poos a lot i.e. 6+ large poos a day. Its not diahorrea and he dosent get any extras. Would like some advice on what else i could feed him. It would have to be additive free. Many thanks.

If you feed raw meat - tripe, beef, lamb, chicken etc it will be additive free (apart from whatever the cows, sheep etc were fed on). Make sure to include some bone content too. You will also find you have a vastly reduced amount of poo.

Do a search on here, there's plenty of info on raw-feeding. Or put in BARF, you should get lots of hits.

There are many complete foods out there today with additive free....if its a complete you are looking for.

Burns mini bites is a good food or skinners puppy or Arden grange puppy...JWB puppy. it is quite a mine field these days choosing the correct food for your dog. Every dog is different, what suits one wont suit the next one.
I dont feed the recommened amount on the bag as it would be far to much in my opinion. Maybe keep to the hills and reduce his amount slightly.

Just to say puppies do poo a lot, if it is formed this is not excessive, they are eating more than an adult of their breed at this age.

What goes in has to be processed and come out.

You will get different ideas on the ideal puppy food so I would stick to what he was reared on for a while yet and only introduce something new gradually.

He will be having a lot of changes, change of home, water, environment, be subjected to worming treatments (possibly flea treatment) and having vaccinations, so best to keep the food familiar at least for a while.
