My bitch is continually scratching up in her whelping box ,her pups are only 6 days old and she seems totally oblivious to were they may be when she starts scratching up ,we are continually having to move the pups out of her way ' is there any reason why she should be doing this

but why should she be doing it after 6 days , also it is not just in her box she is doing it , but on the couch or on the rugs we use to lay on  when helping feed her pups beside her box

I assume that she's been vet checked?

yes , vet checked 7days before birth and day after birth as milk flow not vg , all ok now flowing freely after putting older pups on her , but scratching up started on 5th day , someone suggested she was nesting to get ready for feeding her pups

my bitch was still doing this at 4 weeks! not in the puppy pen but under the bed on the carpet. I have an 8 yr old spayed bitch that still rakes at the carpet alot beofre settling down.
