Odd one really.

Did any one who attended Birmingham end up with Kennel cough?

My girl was vaccinated yet still got it and its now worked its way though my herd.  Pulled out of several shows so i dont take my contagious dog out but annoyed that someone else didnt and i now wake up to frothy coughed up goodness all over my floor!!

Fine here, but you need to remember a dog can be infectious before it shows any symptoms, so it isn't always that someone knowingly took an infectious dog to a show.

Interestingly the last time any of mine had contact with dogs that went onto have KC a few days later, none of mien got it and they were caged right next to one who was hit badly.

As I live in a city with a fairly large dog population in our walking areas mine must pick up an awful lot of herd immunity.

The vaccines only cover x strains so if its a new one they've not encountered then they'll generally catch it anyway.

Yes one of my girls came down with KC 6 days after birmingham so techincally could have caught it at the show as incubation times are 5 - 10 days depending on which text books you're vet checks, which we have had done with rescue animals that have arrived with us.  The male who was at the show didn't get it and non of the others here so possibly she had missed that particular strain last time around.

Yep my boy must of picked it up and now my others all have it, he didn't show any signs until 5 days after we got back then the others all started
Dogs are like chocolates, you can't have just one!

There's lots of KC about at the moment.

A friends 13 week old pup has caught it from her very first visit to training club
she hasn't been anywhere else to catch it :-(
