tio started limping a bit on his front left leg when liam had him out to the loo this afternoon. it was really sudden and he was shaking the wap like he was tryignt o shift something. I had a good look and have found the bit thats sore (he makes his sore face when its touched) but there is nothing there, its not even red.

he was walking on some grass and then a path so just in case he stepped on a bee or something i've given him piriton, i've also been soaking his foot in warm salt water (theres a good chance its glass, theres a fair bit about- isn't dundee lovely?). i've had to come to work now but i think he's glad of it as he was not enjoying me chasing him about with salty water. i made his bed even comfier than usual till i'm back.

so can anyone make other suggestions on how to deal with it?

i would pop to the vets, if there's a chance it could be glass. see how he is later and if it's no better then i always think it's worth the peace of mind to get the vets to check it out. if it's glass you may not be able to see it very well.

He could have stood on a tiny shatter of glass or something sharp, which has penetrated his pad, prob be best getting a vet tomorrow to have a quick look, washing with salty water with help if any infection gets into the pad.

Sometimes a good night's rest can work wonders. Especially if he's just strained something after racing around. See how he is in the morning.

he wasn't racing around, he was on lead but he's much better today anyway. I'll keep soaking it but he's much improved. thanks all.

Magnesium sulphate paste is worth a try it draws any foreign bodies out  , put it on and if possible(i know with paws it is difficult) bandage for as long as possible. if there is anything in there it may come out.
if all about lose their heads , have another glass of wine

Hi, just speaking from experience of mysterious sore paws with no outward evidence of the cause.....could he have twisted a claw, wrenching his toe and making the nail bed painful?  Or maybe have a nail bed infection?  Try comparing the paw to the other one to see if you can spot any swelling of the toes!

Nellie once yanked on a claw when another larger dog trod on her foot, and has had frequent infections and swollen toes ever since.  It always makes her limp.  Bizarrely, when I started giving her arnica for something else, her frequent mystery sore paw syndrome vanished, she hasn't had an episode for over a year!

Of course now she is on to bigger and better things, like having an undiagnosed back issue..........sheesh
