Hello, I've been teaching my dog 'the finish', you know when they come around you after a recall and sit on left hand side and I'm wandering when the correct time to click him is? Should I click as he is coming behind me or when he gets to my left side??
More dogs please

Depends on how well he knows it. If he's just starting to learn, initially you click for walking behind you, and end the exercise there obviously. You can then extend it so that eventually the click doesn't appear until he has walked behind you and round to your side, then next step he's walked behind you, to your side and sat down. Most exercises using clicker training are broken into tiny portions to that you can get each part just right.

Should perhaps add, it would be quicker and easier to just do a left side finish, so he doesn't walk behind you at all, just stays on the left side and turns round. You can do this whilst standing close to a wall so he has to get close. Click for walking to your left side and behind you, then next step turning round, final step the sit.

We've got a close sit on the left side quite good already, I just need to work on the coming around me bit now, thought I was clicking too late because he was looking a bit puzzled!
