Can anyone recommend a flea treatment for puppies under 8 weeks old? Or do you all use frontline at 8 weeks?

I believe you can use the frontline spray rather than the drops. I think it's from 2 weeks but I would google and check as I don't have a bottle to check for you

You can use the Frontline spray. The advice I was given was to wear rubber gloves, spray onto the gloves rather than directly onto the puppies, then massage it in.

Or do you all use frontline at 8 weeks?

Just to comment on this remark as it seemed a bit odd and I wasn't quite sure what you meant -I never flea treat any of my dogs ever unless they have caught fleas, which they have not done for many years now. So just in case you were thinking of routine treatment for no other reason than routine (vets and manufacturers seem so keen to advocate regular flea treatment whether it is needed or not), then I wouldn't bother.

I'm glad you said this Marianne as I was starting to think that I was being iresponsible by never treating mine unless they caught fleas, which touch wood they never have yet.

I never use any flea products on any of my dogs. Young or old.
Only thing i use is a nit comb and it works wonders if there is a lodger lurking.

I have an old cat (16) which seems to constantly need treating for fleas. I'm sure they're in the grass outside too because my two adult dogs seem to need treating every few weeks as they will pick them up!

I agree though that unless it is a serious problem (i.e. constant scratching & lots running through their fur) I'd get a flea comb and comb each pup thoroughly every day. Make sure you wash all bedding, and hoover thoroughly also. You can use the Frontline spray on pups younger than 8 weeks, but as a last resort...

I also agree that no need to treat for fleas unless your pups have them.

Same as some of the others, I never treat a pup just because it's "the thing to do".  

But if you actually see a flea on a pup, you are quite safe to use the Frontline spray.  I'm fairly certain that it's from 2 weeks old, but probably a good idea to spray it on rubber gloves, as someone has already suggested.  Less stress to the pup as well.
