Our bitch gave birth 11 days ago ,aterwards she was passing a reddy/brown  elastic like discharge , but in the last 2 days she has had  a spotted red blood discharge , similar to being in season , is it normal to be bleeding so long after giving birth ?

Just like human mothers, bitches can have a bloody discharge for several weeks after giving birth. As long as it doesn't suddenly become profuse and/or offensively smelly, all is probably normal.

The bleeding can go on for 8 weeks -it varies between bitches.
Marianne. Dogs are not our whole lives, there are cats too!

One of ours was still spotting occasionally after 10 weeks but then she did have 14 puppies. The more pups, the more placental sites to bleed from. How many puppies did your bitch have?

she had 5 pups , and it was her 1st litter

I expect all is well. 11 days is not very long ago, she will probably trickle on for a while yet. As long as she is well in herself I shouldn't worry. Good luck with the pups!

my bitch bled constantly for 4 weeks and then spotted for another 4 weeks after that (slowly reducing each week) as long as the bleeding isn't smelly or discoloured then this is all fine. It is still early days for your bitch, but if you are at all concerned then a phone call to your vet may put your mind at rest. But in my opinion, what you are describing sounds normal :-)
I spend too much time in here :-D
