Sorry, I don't want to open up a can of worms or anything.  I just wondered what the going rate was for the above.  My vet seems to be increasing their prices every time I go in there.

Also does anyone know of someone who does "home" microchipping (ie. not in the vets)in my part of East Sussex (rye area) am willing to travel a reasonable distance if necessary but not willing to pay over £30 for one microchip!

Try ringing Rosemary at Pet-Detect they do courses most wks all over the country so I'm sure she'll be able to put you in touch with a qualified microchipper in you're area.

my last vaccination for one of my dogs cost about £26 but that was in march this year.

I just paid £28 for a puppy vaccine that was done at 8 weeks (Parvo & Lepto), then another £49 for two full vaccines at 10 weeks and 12 weeks.  Microchipping at my vet is £25, but I know a girl from dog club who does it for £10.  I think the normal vaccine for older dogs at my vet's is £36.

Puppy vacc full course £40, booster £20 at my vet -no idea about chipping as I do it myself for about £7 per chip and have always used homechippers before I took the course so never paid more than a tenner.

Full puppy course at a local vets around £25.00, microchipping at most vets around here is £20.  You need to move north LOL!
My dogs aren't my whole life, but my life wouldn't be whole without them. 05/01/08 11 stone 12 lbs

Altough I think my vet is pretty expensive for some procedures (C-sections for one), I always pay up front for a deal with my vaccinations.

I have a tiny breed that I don't like chipping as babes.  I pay around £50 for the two jabs, but that includes my chipping paid for in advance.  My vet does a free puppy health check at 6 months, and I have the chip put in then.

£22 per booster so £44 for puppy course. I thought it was quite cheap until reading everyones posts. :-(

I know someone who microchips for £15, no idea what my vet charges.

Where I used to live the DogWarden did Microchipping for £15, and they'd come to you to do it - found that out after I'd paid £35 at the Vets.

I was quoted £79 for puppy vaccs course 18 months ago, this did NOT include Kennel Cough.  This was the average price in the area.  I then found a 'Budget Vets' had opened 6 miles away, cost of complete Vaccs course + Kennel Cough - £36.  the pup had an excellent check up both times too :-)

I'm astonished at the prices in most vets as this is a really deprived area, with the highest 'looking for work' figures in Wales last year eek  Yet we seem to have the highest vets charges in Britain if the charges quoted here are anything to judge by :-(

I'm moving to where you live then :-D  I have had some offers of microchipping for £15 which I think is a fair price, think it costs something like £7 to the chipper so a bit of profit to cover their costs of course & equipment etc. is fair enough.  £40 at the vets is just taking the michael :-o

There was a vet offering £10 boosters this month about an hour or so from me, would have gone if anyone had needed a booster!
