I have reached the limit of my excess weight.  I am now 10 stone. I have decided to loose a stone by christmas.  I am doing a sponsored slim at my training club. with the sponsor money going to our nominated christmas charity. If I dont loose the weight then I wil match all money that people have sponsored.  any tips on how to get by the sweets in the supermarket?  I even try not going in to the shops...but they put them everywhere, garages, even tk maxx!
HELP!

homeshopping?
you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here

Only go shopping AFTER you have eaten - that way you'll be less tempted by the sweets :-D

thanks, its not the weekly shopping that is a problem, its just being near shops that have food.  I dont need to be going in to buy anything else, I will just go in for some wee treat.  I never go shopping when I am hungry either.  this is a great tip that I was given years ago. it does help.

Don't carry any money - only a debit card for emergencies or larger buys - less likely to use your debit card just to buy a Mars Bar :-)

sellotape on your mouth?  It is the only thing that would work for me.  The lure of the shiny wrapper gets me every time.
ali - with a staffy and a rottie not a chow, but very cheeky!

10 stone I would be too thin at 10 stone.  I have put on a stone since the wedding so am back on diet, with the odd hiccough like eating a whole vanilla cheesecake that was on special offer at Tesco).

Sugar free gum.  I wouldn't eat it in huge quantities but if you always have it on you it can fix your cravings at very short notice.

> Sugar free gum.

Fine as long as it doesn't contain Xylitol which is poisonous to dogs !

The problem with chewing gum is it stimulates the saliva glands which tricks your tummy into thinking food is on the way (like when your mouth waters) so you will end up feeling hungry again with a rumbly tummy.

Definately dont punish yourself - you can have treats, just remember some treats are healthier than others :-)
And ALWAYS go shopping when you've just eaten - you are less likely to be tempted into buying naughty stuff.

I just wish i could take my own advice. Since meeting my chap i have put on weight. I realise its only cos im happy and contented and im still within my 'healthy weight' level at 10st 11. Just wish i was at 10st though like i was before i met him and wearing my size 10/12 jeans not size 14 :-( :-( :-(

Tell me about it! When I got married 18 months ago, my wedding dress was a size 8... Now I am a 14!!! Too many romantic 3 course meals!!! (or me sitting and eating ice cream and takeaways when he works away - ooops).

I also find that I give myself the same size portions as him when I dish tea up which is not advisable, he is 6ft 2 and 17 stone, I am only 5ft 6!! i feel ashamed now I've typed it all out!!! :-(

Lettuce leaf for lunch anyone???

I was eating one as I was typing !!

I find the WW bars quite expensive for what they are, for an extra 0.5 points and half the price I prefer a curly wurly :-)  I do like the WW fruities sweets, they keep me occupied whilst driving and for 0.5 points a packet are quite good.

Just off to make myself some 0 point soup to get me through the week.

DID IT!

I have reached my target weight of 9 stone.  I have lost jsut over a stone in weight. and by doing so have made around £400.00 for charity.  Sooooo pleased.  I want to loose another couple of pound by my weight in next week so I can weight 9 when dressed.

Well done. I have lost 10 lbs in the last 7 weeks but another stone to go. I am loosing very slow now, only 1 lb a week but the longer it takes to come off the better. I am following the Rosemary Conley diet and eating well. Do not feel deprived, even allowed a treat. The recipes are lovely and spicey and don't make you feel like your dieting.
