I bought a 20 KG bag of Chappie for around £14.

I have a black Lab/Ret-she has been on it for six weeks and oh boy what a change in her coat-she has a super glossy coat.

Now it could be a new coat she has grown or it could not but I am really pleased.

She has a couple of meals a day with raw tripe/lamb/chicken put in with the Chappie.

I will put my Affenpinschers on it and see if it suits them.

dont you mean a 10k?  I thought that was the biggest that chappie complete came in.  I may be wrong.  I used it on one of my dogs years ago and he did well on it.

The largest bag of Chappie I've ever come across was 17kg for the price of the usual 15kg. Great food.

I got the original.

Maybe next time I will try the Chicken one.

I have one of the Affenpinschers on Burns-Chicken-he has been on for 6 weeks and it really suits him-his coat has a good shine on it and he has bodied up.

I could not feed all three on it as it is expensive-I got one bag on offer-so hence trying my Affen on it.

I will put him on Chappie, once bag has finished ,and see how he goes.

Although I raw feed now my previous dogs were fed on chappie complete and did really well. It was the only food my gsd could tolerate having a sensitive tum

No, no more than anything else.

Oh right thanks for that, mind you it was only the guy in the pet shop that told me that and needless to say it put me right off at the time.

A few years ago when I was on an economy drive I put my 2 Belgians onto Chappie Complete and yes they did poo for England,it was horrendous,huge amounts of orange poo about 5 times a day and after a week on it I stopped feeding it and just chucked the rest of the bag away.

The Chappie tinned is good too.  My Border Collie had awful digestive problems, and I feed a half wet, half dry diet.

Burgess Supadog Sensitive sorted his tummy, but he is given tinned Chappie with it.  Last time my boy went for his booster jab, the vet actually commented on his marvellous condition.  Don't know if it's the fish oil, but he's a red and white, and his coat positively gleams a gorgeous mahogany glow.  

Can i ask whether this is a good food or not, i know someone in my breed who feeds all her dogs on it and they always look in good condition. I know its a cheap food and just wondered how much of the food was actually nutritional for the dog.
Currently on mainly raw with a top complete mixer to supplement it.

chappie complete dry made my lot poo for britain - and the smell was horrendous!!     It would come out of the bags at you !!   I have never smelled anything like it

Hmm. so it seems it does affect some dogs that way, so I think I would give it a miss. I guess you could cope with the extra pooping if you only had one dog but not when you have five as I do.

My vet has in the past recommended Chappie ... no nonsense, basic,common sense food I believe was the description!  In fact I've recommended it today for a friend whose rescue isn't quite taking to the food she's chosen ... Bakers!  Don't think I'd take to it either looking at all the colourings involved.  I'd say if your dog appears to enjoy it and looks good at it continue with it until you feel otherwise, if ever.

So very true! 

It's why so many of us with multidog households have different foods in.  While it would be convenient to feed them all the same, it is far more sensible to feed what suits.
