any ideas what to get my hub for silver anniversary? other than a medal obv? money is tight!

I have the same problem, so I'll be watching the thread with interest!

A friend suggested an 'experience' rather than a 'thing', so I'm considering indoor skydiving. It looks great fun and you don't get vertigo!

What about a good old day of major pampering. Works everytime I think..

Do people actually buy things for each other ?? My OH and I just had a meal out with the children on our 25th. I'm sure we won't buy each other anything when we have our 30th in 2011

I'm creeping ever closer to our 25th too, it's a hard one isn't it?

One thing we are doing which you may or may not have thought of is a re-taking of our vows followed by a party with all our friends and family, for me it is the best way that we can enjoy this first milestone in our marriage and hubbies tend to enjoy parties too, (well mine does ) so you could make it a joint celebration and present to one another by having both or even just a party. The good thing about parties is they can be big and extravagant or small and intimate it's the people that make it, so the cost can go either way.

As already said, men often don't enjoy pampering and gifts like we do, but you know your man best, mine is partial to a nice watch (maybe you could have one engraved on the back for the 25th with date etc )

The other thing which will not break the bank is of course a mans ultimate gift and never not enjoyed, yourself lying on a plate (silver coloured of course) in some sexy underwear or negligee, that will make his 25th, 26th and onwards I dare say.

We rarely buy actual presents but tend to buy ourselves something we both want.  Usually in the months before, if we see something we like we'll buy it and call it an anniversary present.  Nowadays it's often artwork, but depends on the money.  I think our first anniversary present to ourselves was tiles for the bathroom (we were very skint) and one year was a Dualit toaster!

Our 25th is in 2011 and we both fancy a holiday on our own but, we'll see...

we dont buy each other gifts either ...

That how we celebrate our anniversarys and its cheap as chips and plenty of room for snuggling and ........lol!

We use any excuse for a holiday, so we have always gone away, my anniversary is 29th April and then 30th April is my birthday so we have a good holiday each year alone!!!!

I bought my OH a trophy.. which had the dates and a small message.
He deserved an award putting up with me for 25 years !!!!

Our children organised a family meal. We turned up at a local Bistro expecting just to have dinner with them. All the family was there. Did not have a clue the kids had arranged it all with my brother and OH's sister... It was brilliant.

Same here,we are off to Rome for a week to celebrate being together in general as there are no aniversarys that month.
its my birthday next week and he has a surprise weekend booked....

I'd have no idea what to buy OH for an anniversary if we were married, maybe an 'experience' day of some sort, or perhaps going back to somewhere we went on one of our first dates?

I always think something with a lot of thought is better than something that costs a lot of money - how about making a CD of music from the year you were married, and maybe cooking a special meal?

It was my parents 40th last year, and as a present for them I dug out all of the old photos they've got in shoe boxes, cupboards etc when they were on holiday, and put them together in a nice photo album, almost in time order, so a couple of their wedding pics at the front, and more recent ones towards the back. They loved it and said it was so much better than anything that could have been bought, as they've been meaning to sort their photos out for years.
