A friend has a border terrier (cross?) who she rescued a year or ago.  Trudy is quite large for a BT (about the size of a standard schnautzer perhaps) but other than that she does LOOK like a BT.  The friend read in a book that there did used to be a bigger type of BT, like Trudy.  Does anyone know anything about this?  I had a quick look on the internet but couldn't see any mention of it.

Thanks

Snowflake

I don't know about Borders being that tall, but I strip a variety of shapes and sizes of them, some as big springers!
My 4 are all different heights, and are from different lines, showing/working, the working can be bigger in size, then again they breed them smaller for getting into holes.
So its hard to say, as there is a height restriction for them.

A Border Terrier should always be spannable - ie. you can join your hands together round its rib cage. So no, it can't be the size of a Standard Schnauzer. :-)

There is no height given in the Breed Standard, but a dog should weigh around 15 1/2 lbs and a bitch 14 lbs.
