Hey all,

I got my hair done this week, but a weave in (its now really long and black, I love it) the only problem is it is so itchy!!!

Any suggestions on how to stop the itching?  The braids are so tight that it is making my scalp itch like crazy, but I dont wanna ruin my hair.

ARG, the price I pay for long hair.
Sweet Mira, rest in peace.

i've never had any experience with braids but why don't you ring the hair dresser and ask what you can use to calm your itching down,i'm sure your not the first person to have this problem and they maybe able to help.

i think from what i know that the itching is just part of what comes with it when you have this done i remember having the bo derek look from the movie 10 many many years ago and it itched like mad it did get better tho the longer i had iad it in,

think their are creams you can buy for your scalp but not sure if id want to use any as it may make your hair look greasy
I love dogs...it's humans that annoy me

naturally I have straight red hair.  Im Scottish and Native, so no crimpy hair for me.  I put in corn rows as tracks, and then had human like hair sewn in.  None of my real hair is showing, all you see is the weave.

I susspect it is tight at the moment but as it grows the itchyness will lessen.
WoW a whole new you!

How does your weave match your skin tone?  Going from naturally red to jet black is a huge change.  Does it make your face look very pale?  (I'm red too and looked quite scary when I wore a halloween black wig!!)

the black looks really good actually, my mom is native, and I got a bit darker skin then say a normal red head.  I actually think I look worse when I have a lighter red colour (like in the summer) then the black, because my skin is beige, not ivory.  My natural red is very dark, more like a dark auburn.  So the black looks nice.  At least I think so lol

oh I am so gonna go to the salon and see if I can get some of the sprays offered.  The itching is a little less now, but still driving me mad LOL

peppermint oil is meant to be good for itching but shouldn't be used neat.
