Could anyone tell me how long it takes from a dog having nothing, to being able to travel to europe with a pet passport?

My dogs have annual vaccinations but nothing else.

An animal can travel abroad several weeks after the rabies vaccination, but can't return until at least 7 months after.

The process goes like this:

The animal is microchipped, then given a rabies vaccination. (The microchip can vaccination can take place at the same consultation, but the chip must be implanted first). Three or four weeks later (depending on the vaccine manufacturer's recommendation) a blood sample is taken from the animal and sent away to be tested. If the sample shows a high enough level of antibodies then the vet will recheck the animal's microchip and issue the pet passport; the animal can then travel abroad, but can't return to the UK until 6 months have passed from the date the blood sample was taken.

roughly how much would it all cost?

Somewhere in the region of £250 if I remember rightly. I can check at work this afternoon, if I have time.

I had 2 dogs passported back in 06 for moving to Germany. It cost me just over £200 for both but that wasn't including the microchip as they were done as puppies.

One last question,

How long does the vaccination and blood test last?

The vaccine that mine had lasts for 3 years and the blood only has to be taken the once if the titre levels are ok.

It depends on the vaccine. The one mine had lasts for 2 years. If you then keep up to date with boosters you don't ever need another blood test.
