Every day my boy border of twelve months finds other people and their dogs more interesting and just wont come back,he is not a greedy dog so forget tit bits,any ideas.

Do you interact with him on walks or do you just let him do his own thing? Does he like toys? You need to make him think you are the best thing there is out on the walk so introduce a game and keep him guessing about what you are going to do next. Play lots of recall games, hide a toy and teach him to find it. Although he may not be interested in tit bits their may be something that really floats his boat like chicken or liver, something really tasty.
At 12 months he will be going through adolescence and so will be pushing the boundaries and you will need to work doubly hard to keep his focuso n you and doing as he's told. If you don't think he is going to come back when you ask, don't let him off the lead. Invest in a long line and do some training so that he doesn't learn to ignore you.

i agree with the other post, i'd also suggest you join a good training class. a lot of trainers do follow on classes for older dogs and there great fun, you can also go on to agility when your dog is old enough.
the training will build a better bond with yourself and the dog and teach commands to the dog so you have better control when out.
it's really a case of go back to basics on the training and learn what motivates your dog to respond to you.    

Ditto what both posters have said, you have to look at it from his point of view, he's with you every day, of course another dog, another person is much more interesting, worth following for a bit and exploring, particularly another dog, the trick is to keep him busy and focussed on you, or to get him on a long line until he is older and listens to your commands.

Many thanks for all your suggestions Iv'e only had my little Mo ten weeks, incidently he came from a real bad home, and has come on leaps and bounds. My local training class was very dissapointing so I called it a day on that, but I have found in the last few days he has improved a lot, however today when I was out walking a lady told she had met a man whose border had at that time gone missing for over two hours, filling me with dread .
I've had bitches ie westies and lhasa Apsos, and I wonder if this makes a difference.

I have a terrier type mongrel whose whole being fills with joy and excitement at the sight of another walker or dog.  If I'm not vigilant, prepared, scanning the horizon or, got him on the lead simply because I'm in a populated area, he'll fling himself with complete abandon at the object of his desire!!

My little toad has great recall in the first 2 seconds of flight and at any other time  ... but I can't see that being helpful if he's already gone, or used as an excuse if the person is wearing white trousers or has a fear aggressive dog!

We live in a small rural village so it's rarely a problem but if we decide to walk in a different area I stay on high alert or just don't let him off.  I hope you can sort Mo with training but sometimes the behaviour is so ingrained it's difficult to get even 90% reliability.  Mine isn't terribly food or toy motivated and even if I had a whole roast chicken in my pocket I'd struggle with Finn's instinct to snog everyone he sees.
