I know pancur is effective against lungworm and my pup is about to start a final course (3 days) of Panacur today to treat a suspected Giardia infection.  I think that this will also cover her against Lungworm (she is a little moo for picking up snail shells at the moment) but just wanted to check this - can anyone help?  Also how long does the Panacur treatment protect her for?

Panacur is indeed used to treat lungworm and can be given mthly if concerned.  One of my puppy buyers had lungworm in her pup 6 yrs ago and still use's panacur twice a year as there are a lot of snails etc in her area she will do it mthly for 3 mths at times.

The dosage rate for both giardia and lungworm are different (more days) so please check with Vet.

7 Days for treatment of lungworm, sorry forgot that bit thanks for the reminder Brainless.

The life cycle of lungworms is 28 days from ingestion to passing eggs which is why my buyer treats once a mth as a precaution for 3 mths.  I do alternate treatments ie pancur then drontal over the year as my dogs don't tend to eat a lot of grass or snails once past puppyhood.

Thanks all.  I don't know if I am worrying needlessly or whether to give her a longer dose of Pancur to be sure!

Barbara is right about differing dosing.  Giardia is for 5 days.
The hurrier I go - the behinder I get!
