does anyone have any recomendations for a towelling coat? I mean the thick winter type for putting on a wet gun dog at lunchtime, between drives! I have one for the deerhounds but dont want to buy the same make as it has wadding in it which does more heating than drying...want the double layer towel type. please dont suggest making my own,,,,,, i dont even sew buttons on!!!!
Have a look at the ones Ann Rees makes (www.annrees.co.uk) They are great quality and a really good fit.
Well ... I wasn't going to suggest making your own, but the one I made for my dog for after hydrotherapy sessions was much admired by my dog and by other pool users! No, before you ask, I'm not in the market for making any more ... though maybe I should be?!
I seem to recall seeing someone's from Country Mun, quite a while ago, but that was a double layer towelling, with insulation between. Not sure if they still sell though.

already have one of those with filling but want plain towelling. will look at anne rees thanks.
Trover coats are very good and well worth the money. www.trovercoat.com that should get you to the site.
After looking at the anne rees ones I think the Trover coats fit better and they certainly dry them. I know somebody who uses one for a Rottie who has arthritis in the back legs and she is very pleased with it.

I use the Countrymun towelling coats on my three girls and have always found they do a good job of drying them. Now I have looked at the Trovers, I must say I like the look of the depth of them. Only problem is, I don't think I can justify another £140 odd for
more dog coats!
They will just have to carry on with their Countrymuns!

trovers dont appear to have a surcingle, way too much stuff hanging down for my liking, and blackdogs arent towelling

oh dear, the search continues......

Dont know if this maybe any good to you.....www.countrypursuits.co.uk.

On a week end away I forgot the coats.. my M&S towelling dressing gown was used as an emergency measure. Perfect even if my boy did look a little silly !! I have modified two now, they are perfect in the back of the car but I guess two dogs in dressing gowns look daft! Does that come under some kind of cruelty act!

You could try contacting
these people they make coats for dogs in all shapes & sizes & the proceeds go towards supplying the smaller(as in not RSPCA etc)animal rescues with collars, leads etc etc. I'm sure that Al would be able to make up a towelling coat to fit 99% of breeds

Sam, I love the look of these and could do with one. Can you give us a quick review when you've used it please?

These look fab, so many different costs, would be great after the wet weather or swimming any time of the year.
Reviews would be great, especially from those with large dogs full of coat.

Equafleece
http://www.equafleece.co.uk/store/dogs.html is way better than towelling...just think how wearing a towel would feel if you'd just done the Three Peaks! Fleece is a much better wicking medium, and both my gundogs love them (although the older boy had to chew a hole in his coat to make it 'his').
OK, so the cream carpets were a bad idea
If it's the Ann Rees coat that Sam has gone for, they are great. I have a collection of 6 towelling coats, but when I saw the Ann Rees ones, I couldn't resist and now the other 6 have been made redundant. I use it on a golden retriever, but the hairiest beasties I have recommended them for are a long coat GSD and a newfie and both owners were really pleased with the results. The towelling is of a good quality and by the time I get home from the reservoirs (about 15 mins) my girl is virtually dry.

sorry Jay, I dont "do" equafleece

The ann rees one arrived today but the lucky recipient is out deer stalking all day so he wont be able to have his fitting until tonight. As its been raingin all day I think he might be glad of it. On first look, it seems good....towelling thick and fastenings sturdy, although some of the stitiching looks very poor in terms of "standard". Ill give you more info once hes tried it on!

try carol ann acarlton of origenals dog coats, she owns and shows RR, her coats are very well made and very resonably priced
As above, Carol Ann is very helpful.
