I was shocked to say the least to find this out!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/8293563.stm

They say it is an effort to reduce stray dogs. They must be completely off their rocker if they think this will work. It will only penalize the responsible people and because they cannot now afford to pay....actually increase stray and abandoned dog numbers.

And for such a huge increase..I have 6 dogs and that would mean £300 per year when before it would have be £20 for a block license.
Ridiculous I really hope they see the stupidity of the proposal before it goes any further.
I wouldn't be able to afford it and neither would most of my friends. However they have said they would object less if the money raised was being used towards animal welfare and not just an easy way to make money for the councils to waste on other projects.
Never let a man's mind wander, it's too little to be out on it's own!

Yes saw this on the news yesterday, don't know how they think this will help really.

Surely by not allowing a dog off the lead you are impacting on its "rights"? Never mind I am sure the RSPCA will use all their political might and quote the Animal Welfare Act therefore fighting the corner of the responsible dog owner............ :-!
