We were out today with our four doglets and Hannah our Greek gal who loves nothing better than a manic chase,  palled up with a standard schnauzer called Bluebell (great name).  Got talking to the lady with her and was interested to know that she is not the owner.  She is involved with a kennels in Saunderton who train hearing dogs from Mon to Fri.  At weekends the dogs are "fostered" by suitable people (suppose there must be a list of vetted peeps).  The lady told me that only about 50% of the dogs make it through to become fully fledged hearing dogs - I imagine the rest are found good homes.  She also said that she loves doing what she does as she works full time all week and can devote her weekend to the dogs!  She couldon't cope with a dog of her own at the moment.  I am sure lots of people may well be able to help these hearing dogs at weekends which it great for them and dogs but may not know about it.  I am sure one could find out about local hearing dog kennels on the internet.

I would love to help out too but with my four it is impossible.  Just thought I would mention the possibililty to peeps.

Guide dogs do the same for some of the dogs that are in advanced training.

http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/helpus/volunteering/what-you-can-do-to-volunteer/boarders/  You have to live within a certain distance of the training centres as well I think so you can collect and drop them off at certain times.
