I  went to my usual walk today on the moors with my dogs. The only problem i had was having to carry the pup of 10weeks as only had 1 jab so far. By the time i got back to my car i thought i was going to drop (me not the pup).
Has anyone got any good idear's how is the best way to carry her...bag etc. She is a GR so quite a weight and i have another 3weeks to go before we can walk her.
I know i could leave her at home....but i like to take her and show her the world...so i have to suffer.
My hubby said she would be to heavy for me but i wouldn't listen.

get an old pushchair and harness her in?

I would have thought a bag would still be quite heavy for to carry.

yep a pushchair or if you do a google search im sure you will find a bag designed for carrying pups- my friends used it with their kelpie pup and lab pup- think it goes diagnally across your back with the pup in a sort of hand bag position.

One of my friends had her Spanish in a bag which was like a backpack but at the front.  Was very cute and her pup was so used to it.
If I wanted a Poodle, OES, TT or IWS I would have bought one. SWD's shd. be natural and rustic. No

And what a lovely sight that would be, a beautiful golden nose with those lovely eyes peeking out of a baby carrier, love it :-) Great idea :-)

the baby carrier looks like a good idea! No alternative advice but wanted to sympathise, I carried both of ours on walks when they were wee, Bernese and setter and boy do they get heavy!! I thought my arms would fall off after half an hour carrying a 10 week old bernese :-D Having said that they both have fantastic temperaments and love meeting people and other dogs now so it was worth it :-)

Found this one on ebay for you, it's free P&P although not in this country, but a really good price, cheaper than most sold in pet shops in this country. I paid £35 for the last one I bought, this one should be good for the back too being built like a ruck sack.

A bum bag. You can take some of the strain off by resting her bottom on the bum bag. I have done it and it really helps.

Yes Dakkobear i have carried all mine as babies when walking the others, but im getting older now and it has become harder and they seem much heavier...or im just weaker.
And yes your right everybody wants to speak to puppy and that holds me up even longer.
Never mind they dont stay pups for long do they....she will soon be hurtling off on the end of the lead.

I took my wicker basket today...she did look sweet, but bad idear,i thought i could rest her on the ground in the basket, that worked for a while untill she jumped out when it was on the ground and started to fidget then. so i ended up carrying her and the basket on the moors.
People must have thought i was going to sit and have a picnic. Chance would be a fine thing.

When I sell puppies, each buyer gets one of the bags from Croft as part of their puppy pack. It's just a plain holdall, which I stuff full of toys, treats etc. One of my buyers in the last litter used this bag to carry her Malinois puppy around in before his vaccinations! Just slung it over her shoulder with the shoulder strap.

Definitely a bad idea :-) - I can well remember deciding it would be easier to carry my daughter round the shops in her baby car seat as I wasn't going far and she was sleeping - she was only about 6lbs but sooo much heavier in the seat than just carrying her - never tried that again! It must have been bad because I remember the agony in my arm clear as day and she is 20 now :-o

I'd be a bit worried about carrying a puppy in just any bag :-( When my daughter was about 2 we visited a waterfall in Wales. To climb to the top was too much for her so we popped her in a large back pack. She wasn't in it for more than about 20 minutes, but when we took her out and stood her on the ground she fell over as her leg had gone to sleep :-( We never did it again :-)

I have a 9 week old Rotty who is very happy to sit in a buggy with a harness on and see the big wide world nice and safely off the ground.  I just do road walks so I can avoid other dogs coming too close and making contact.  I have done this with all my puppies and although you get funny glances it saves on you arms and gets them out n about.

Have fun with your baby.
